A few years ago, we started the practice of giving to charities to honor our Foundation friends in lieu of small gifts to our account holders. It’s our way of saying thanks for participating in the growth of stewardship in our conference churches and institutions. It’s been such a success that Heartspring staff also participate in lieu of exchanging gifts among ourselves.
This year we have chosen a project associated with the General Board of Discipleship of the United Methodist Church. They are working with the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine’s Institute for Global Health and the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry on an Ebola Prevention Plan in West Africa. Ebola contagion is a worldwide health concern and we are grateful for United Methodist leaders committed to this prevention plan.
